Mayor Byron W. Brown Declares Advertising Week in Buffalo

Series of events, gatherings for Ad pros and students to discuss and celebrate industry

October 12, 2016 - To spotlight the economic impact and investment of the local marketing and advertising industry, Mayor Byron W. Brown declared this week as Advertising Week in the City of Buffalo.

The local advertising industry collectively employs over 1,000 people, with annual wages exceeding $60 million . In addition, several advertising and marketing firms are either headquartered in or have recently announced plans to re-locate to the City of Buffalo, which has helped spur the economic revitalization of the Main Street corridor.

“I look forward to Advertising Week in the City of Buffalo,” said Mayor Byron W. Brown. “The advertising industry employs many City residents, and some of the region’s most prominent advertising agencies are located in the City of Buffalo. The advertising industry is helping to improve the quality of life of Buffalo residents, and adding to the economic development underway in our city. I am pleased to proclaim this week as Advertising Week in the City of Buffalo to recognize this important profession.”

Mayor Brown officially proclaimed Advertising Week during a ceremony held in his office on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 4 p.m.

The proclamation dovetails an annual tradition of bringing together the local advertising community for a series of programs and events held each October. AAF Buffalo, the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation, has hosted Buffalo Ad Week for the last five years.

2016 Buffalo Ad Week, sponsored by Step Out Buffalo, Luminus Media, LLC and CBRE|Buffalo, will feature a mix of events targeting both professionals and students at locations throughout the city between October 10-14. To kick things off, 20 local students enrolled in Buffalo Prep’s College Prep program visited three downtown marketing and advertising agencies on Monday, Oct. 10th.
