Mayor Byron W. Brown today welcomed the children of City of Buffalo employees to City Hall as part of the national “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.” More than 35 million adults and youth were expected to participate in today’s program in more than 3 million workplaces nationwide.

“I am happy to welcome the children of our employees to City Hall for the 4th year in a row,” said Mayor Brown. “Today’s program not only gives the children the opportunity to see what their parents do at work, but also to see how City Hall and city government function.”

While the children were given time to spend with their parents, various activities were also planned throughout the day to give the children insight into what some of the City of Buffalo Departments do, including: a presentation by the Buffalo Police K-9 unit and SWAT team; the opportunity to attend a press conference; a meet and greet with Common Council members and a tour of the Council Chambers; a presentation at Buffalo Fire Headquarters; and a visit to the Observation Deck.

All participants received a certificate of achievement from Mayor Brown and information on the Mayor’s Kids Summer Reading Challenge and Summer Youth Employment Program.

Participants were provided with a free lunch voucher, bicycle helmets and a book courtesy of Mayor Brown and the Police Athletic League of Buffalo.
