Cutler MAYOR BROWN ATTENDS 911 BUFFALO FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIAL SERVICE Mayor Byron W. Brown attended the Buffalo Fire Department’s Memorial Ceremony for Buffalo firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The program focused on reflection – of the creation of the Buffalo Fire Department, the origin of Fireman’s Park in Buffalo, and of the loss of firefighters since 1880. “I commend all of the firefighters, past and present, for the fearlessness they exhibit every day,” said Mayor Brown. Their commitment to Buffalo will never be forgotten. It is important to honor these heroes for their bravery and dedication to this city and its residents. “As we remember the tragic events of 9/11/01and the way in which it has forever changed all of our lives, it is also fitting and especially gratifying to honor the memory of the members of the Buffalo Fire Department who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of this community," said Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield. This event was also the introduction of memorial markers that will be located throughout the Buffalo in remembrance of fallen firefighters. These markers will help to immortalize the individuals who were lost in the line of duty, and honor their courage. |
