The latest initiative, called “Operation: Kaiser Roll Roundup,” was carried out Saturday afternoon and targeted the Kaisertown and South Buffalo areas of the City. “The men and women of the Buffalo Police Department have again demonstrated their tremendous professionalism and determination in disrupting illegal drug operations in Buffalo and arresting those responsible for these illegal activities,” said Mayor Byron W. Brown. “With the invaluable assistance of outside law enforcement agency personnel, our Buffalo police officers repeatedly put themselves in harm’s way to rid our city streets of illegal drugs and the people who deserve to be jailed for selling illegal drugs. Our efforts over the years have been relentless in eradicating this scourge from our city streets and we will continue to fight for the law abiding residents of Buffalo.” The 6-month investigation into drug sales in and around the Kaisertown section focused primarily on the sale and distribution of cocaine and crack cocaine. Detectives from the Narcotics Unit of the Buffalo Police Department were able to identify several individuals involved and were ultimately able to purchase cocaine from these suspects on numerous occasions. “Operation Kaiser Roll” culminated on Saturday, March 28th, with the execution of 9 search warrants and the arrest of at least 11 people on various drug charges. Five of the suspects were charged with arrest warrants for the sale of cocaine. During the roundup, authorities recovered at least (6)oz. of cocaine, (4) oz. of crack cocaine, (1) .380 caliber handgun and $1,300.00 in cash. The investigation was led by the Buffalo Police Department’s Narcotics Unit under the direction of Lt. Paul Delano. The Department was assisted by a number other agencies including: Amherst Police, DEA, East Aurora Police, Erie County DA’s office and New York State Police.
