Keane, Jr., who died earlier this week. Mayor Brown sought approval for lowering the flags in tribute to former New York State Assemblyman Keane by corresponding yesterday with Governor David Paterson. The Governor today granted his formal approval of Mayor Brown’s request. “Dick Keane was an individual who devoted his life to the things he loved most, his family, friends, good government and the City of Buffalo,” said Mayor Brown. “For over thirty years he served the citizens of Buffalo, notably the residents of South Buffalo, with great distinction, passion, integrity and honesty. He was a valued mentor to so many who sought to serve the public with the same skill and commitment he demonstrated throughout his career. We will lower the flags to half-staff to honor Dick Keane’s great life of selfless service to others and for his deep love of our city. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.” |
