Mayor Brown Gives Participants of Al Pastor Basketball Tournament Tour of Buffalo City Hall Office

MAYOR BROWN KICKS OFF 22nd ANNUAL PASTOR TOURNAMENT
Tournament Features 12 Premier Boys and Girls Area High School Basketball Teams

“Anyone that appreciates the great athleticism of these high school athletes, is a basketball fan and wants to see great competition, I encourage you to attend the 22nd Annual Al and Rose Pastor Memorial Basketball Tournament,” said Mayor Brown. “You will not be disappointed – it is a really a great showcase event for our area’s top high school basketball players.”

The annual tournament focuses on boys and girls basketball teams from Western New York.  After the tournament, the Sportsmanship award will be presented to an athlete who most exemplifies the standards set forth by Al Pastor. 

The tournament is scheduled to begin Monday, December 3rd at the Daemen College Athletic Facility located at 4380 Main Street.  The tournament is named in the memory of Al and Rose Pastor and is sponsored additionally in part by the Police Athletic League of Buffalo and Santora’s Phase II Pizza.
 
The following teams were invited to attend and are scheduled as follows:

MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2007   

Girls Division      

5:15 p.m.  Sacred Heart Academy vs Bennett High School

County Executive (Boys) Division  

6:45 p.m.  Nichols vs City Honors High

8:15 p.m.  Niagara Catholic vs Riverside High School

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2007

Girls Division     

5:15 p.m.   Immaculata Academy vs East High School

Mayor’s (Boys) Division       

6:45 p.m.  Olean High vs Grover Cleveland High School
         
8:15 p.m.  St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute vs East High School

Mayor Byron Brown today hosted the pairings announcement of the 22nd Annual Al & Rose Pastor Memorial Basketball Tournament at City Hall.  Players and coaches of the 12 participating premier boys and girls area high school basketball teams attended the pairings announcement.
