MAYOR BROWN TO PARTICIPATE IN 2006 NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE CONFERENCE

Mayor Will Join National Private and Public Sector Leaders in Atlanta July 26-27, 2006
 
BUFFALO—Mayor Byron W. Brown will participate in the annual National Urban League Conference, which will be held July 26th through July 29th in Atlanta, Georgia. Office of Strategic Planning Executive Director Timothy Wanamaker will accompany Mayor Brown to the Conference.
 
Entitled “Building Economic Power for Black America,” the four-day Conference will bring private and public sector leaders from across the country to discuss issues affecting African-Americans. Participants include Richard Parsons, Chairman, Time Warner, Inc.; Congressman John Lewis; Ambassador Andrew Young; Michael Eskew, Chairman & CEO, UPS; and E. Neville Isdell, Chairman & CEO, The Coca-Cola Company.
 
Mayor Brown is scheduled to participate in a panel discussion entitled, “Increasing African-American Participation in Rebuilding America’s Cities.” The discussion will be presided over by Marc H. Morial, President & CEO of the National Urban League (and former Mayor of New Orleans, LA). Participating in the discussion, along with Mayor Brown, will be: Melvin L. “Kip” Holden, Mayor of Baton Rouge, LA; Michael V. Roberts, Chairman & CEO, The Roberts Companies; and Antonio R. Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles, CA.
 
“I look forward to participating in the National Urban League Conference, sharing my Administration’s agenda for economic growth and development,” said Mayor Brown. “This Conference will bring together diverse participants and attendees, all sharing ideas on how to strengthen and enhance opportunities for all members of our society. It is an honor to represent the City of Buffalo at this important Conference.”
 
Mayor Brown is scheduled to depart Buffalo tomorrow (7/26/06) in the late afternoon and will return to Buffalo in the early evening of Thursday, July 27th.
