Public Works, Parks & Streets
Updates- The Department of Public Works, Buildings Division’s personnel continues to accept the added responsibility to their ever changing work environment. This dedication and collaboration with a host of many, has helped to improve and modernize our City Hall facility. The aggressive work of the Brown administration to implement a strategy to upgrade and restore the electrical, plumbing, and mechanical components to today’s standards continues to be a priority. - The City of Buffalo Department of Public Works, Parks and Streets is announcing that work will soon start on the total reconstruction of the Babcock Street Bridge between Seneca Street and Clinton Street. The bridge will be closed starting on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 8:00 AM and will remain closed until the spring of 2010. A posted detour will be in place during construction. Motorists can use Seneca Street to Bailey Avenue to Clinton Street as an alternate.
- The City of Buffalo, Department of Public Works, Parks and Streets will be replacing the South Approach Deck on the Ohio Street Lift Bridge. The Lift Bridge will be closed from Monday, March 30, 2009 at 7:00 AM and will remain closed through the end of May. A posted detour route will be in place during construction. Motorists can use Michigan Avenue to Ganson Street as an alternate route.
- The City of Buffalo will close down the Hopkins Street Bridge, November 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM. The bridge is located on Hopkins Street just north of South Park Lake. Currently the City of Buffalo is reviewing the condition to determine the best course of action for repairs. No determination has been made when the bridge will reopen.
