The mission of the Economic Development Division is to promote the economic vitality of the City of Buffalo through business investment as well as social and human capital development. The Department works alongside local, state, and federal partners to create a thriving business community by making resources available to businesses within the City of Buffalo, NY. Some of the available resources include:
Buffalo Niagara Enterprise (BNE) - Provides comprehensive economic development assistance to new and existing companies in the eight counties of Western New York, including everything from demographic information to tax incentives to site identification.
Buffalo Niagara Partnership – Their mission is to organize and undertake actions to expand private sector jobs and stimulate investments in the Buffalo Niagara region. They drive policy actions and resource allocation as well as offer networking opportunities to help employers succeed and increase regional growth. Offers networking opportunities
Buffalo Urban Development Corporation (BUDC) – BUDC seeks to create a dynamic and responsive project development process and team, capable of meeting the special needs and challenges associated with urban and high impact project development in Erie County.
Empire State Development Corporation (ESD) – Their mission is to provide the highest level of assistance and service to businesses in order to encourage economic investment and prosperity in New York State. We work closely with businesses to: identify creative solutions to challenging problems, generate enhanced opportunities for growth, and help them achieve their uniquely important, short- and long-term goals.
Erie County Industrial Development Agency (ECIDA) - A public benefit corporation created in 1970 by act of the New York State Legislature to promote and assist private sector industrial / business development thereby advancing job opportunities and economic welfare to the people of Erie County, is the economic development corporation for Erie County.
Small Business Development Center (SBDC) - Provides management and technical assistance to start-up and existing small businesses throughout Erie County and the Niagara Frontier.
Buffalo Community Advantage Loan Program - The City of Buffalo Small Business Loan Program offers loans between $25,000 and $250,000 for new or expanding small businesses located in or to be located in the City of Buffalo.
Workforce Investment Board (WIB) - The WIB is committed to creating and promoting a workforce development system that is user friendly and responsive to the needs of both the individual training/job applicant, and/or the business organization seeking our assistance. Our overall goal is to develop and sustain a unified, cost effective, labor market driven system that facilitates economic development and business growth in our community.
World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara (WTCBN) - An international business development organization that strengthens the competitive international position of companies in Upstate New York and Niagara, Ontario. Our commitment is to provide vital trade services and to support companies through our consulting practice, educational programs, and worldwide membership affiliation.
