Deputy Commissioner Johnathan Eaton

Deputy Johnathan Eaton is a 17year veteran of the Buffalo Fire Department, joining in March 2000. Deputy Eaton have a background in law enforcement in which he previously served as a police officer in Winston Salem, North Carolina. In 2013, Deputy Eaton was promoted to Fire Lieutenant and was assigned to Engine 23, 1st platoon. He later served as an instructor for the Buffalo Fire Training Academy in 2015 and describes this as a great opportunity to have a positive impact on the future of the Buffalo Fire Department. In 2016, he was appointed to Deputy Commissioner by the Honorable Mayor Byron Brown and is currently in charge of Personnel. Deputy Eaton also have extensive experience in team leadership, developing and implementing fire prevention, and educational awareness campaigns. Deputy Eaton states, “This career has definitely changed my life and I’m committed to the growth of the Buffalo Fire Department”.

Deputy Commssioner Vincent Muscarella

Captain Vincent Muscarella is a 27 year veteran of the fire service, the last 21 spent with the City of Buffalo. He was appointed to firefighter in 1996 and graduated the recruit academy later that year. A student of the craft, Vincent was promoted to Lieutenant in 2009, and Captain in 2013.  In July of 2016 Mayor Byron Brown, after an extensive search process, appointed Captain Muscarella to Deputy Commissioner of Operations.  In his quest to learn more and be as involved as possible, Deputy Muscarella has become a NYS certified fire instructor and a Master Instructor with the International Association Firefighters. The highlight of his Instructing came earlier this year when he was selected to teach at the Fire Department Instructor Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. In his words "teaching at FDIC is a tremendous honor, second only to being appointed Deputy Commissioner of the City of Buffalo Fire Department".
