Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency(BURA)The Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency (BURA) is a public benefit corporation that was formed, by an act of the New York State Legislature, in 1966. Its corporate purpose includes the general planning and operation of various urban renewal programs designed to prevent or eliminate blight and deterioration in the City of Buffalo. Such programs include:
BURA is governed by a Board of Directors:
Funding for the various programs conducted by BURA is obtained from the Federal government, through the City of Buffalo. In effect, BURA acts as an agent of the City in carrying out its urban renewal activities. Because of its close administrative and financial relationship with the City, BURA is considered to be a component unit of the City of Buffalo for financial reporting purposes. Disclaimer: |
